In this edition held in Mathare, we hosted an engaging discussion on the power of visual storytelling through books – with our two Comic Artist guests, Salim Busuru of Avandu Studio and Oscar Hudson .Speaking to a group of passionate teens,we unpacked how illustrated books /comics can educate, inspire, entertain and empower young minds—especially in underserved communities. We explored: How visual storytelling builds literacy and imagination The role of books in preserving African culture and identity Ways to encourage creative expression and critical thinking in youth The social and emotional benefits of engaging with stories through images This session was filled with energy, insight, and inspiration.
